Installing Bathroom Cabinets

By KBC Kitchen & Bathroom

Between the 63 bottles of shampoo and conditioner to the extra clean towels on the top of the toilet, you have finally come to the realization that you need more storage space in the bathroom. Adding shelving is an option but the bathroom ends up looking more like a pharmacy than a room in your home. Installing bathroom cabinets is one way to add that storage space while sprucing up the bathroom at the same time.

First thing that needs to be done is choosing a cabinet that fits the free wall space you have in the bathroom. Take careful measurements of that space, insuring there is room on both sides once the cabinet is mounted.  Looking for one that will serve your needs and not overwhelm the room is a good idea.

There are many types of surface mount cabinets available, from standard hinged doors to sliding style ones. For those bathrooms with limited space, the sliding doors are perfect as you do not need to allow room for door swing when mounting them. If you have the room, the swinging doors style will work just as well.

In regards to the actual mounting of the cabinets, you will need some basic tools to accomplish this. Normally a power drill or battery screw gun will do the trick along with a level, stud finder and a pencil. Most cabinets come with mounting instructions and hardware and are relatively easy to install.

Using the stud finder, locate the wall studs in the area you wish to mount the cabinets and mark them with the pencil. The cabinet may come with a paper template which will show you the proper mounting locations for the hardware, use this rather that guesstimating where it should go. Once the hardware is mounted on the wall and the cabinet hung, make sure to secure the lower portion of the cabinet to the wall with the screws provided.

Corner Bathroom Cabinet – Get Yours Today!

By KBC Kitchen & Bathroom

The bathroom is the smallest room in the house and the one that gets the most use. With a large family, this can be almost constant during the morning and evening hours. Keeping enough towels and supplies on hand requires some extra storage space and this can be accomplished by adding a corner bathroom cabinet.

Storage space in a bathroom normally is quite limited.  Some shelves or a small chest on the floor helps make up for this, but usually is not enough. The corner of the bathroom tends to have enough room to comfortably add a corner bathroom cabinet without detracting for the overall look of the room. Mounted up, within easy reach for almost every family member, this lets you keep a bit extra of everything close by.

There are many types and styles to choose from when it comes to these types of cabinets. There are single and two door models that have anywhere from two to four shelves built inside and some come with mirrored doors to give the bathroom an even more expanded look. Latching and non latching doors are also available on these.

As far as finishes go, you will have a wide variety to choose from. Wood grain and stained to match the trim or other cabinets that already exist in your home should not be too difficult to find. Along with Formica and easily cleaned surfaces, these cabinets are completely sealed against the possibility of water damage from the steam produced in a bathroom.

A brief search online will let you find a wide range of these cabinets to choose from. Once located, whether it is at a local store or a manufacturer’s outlet, ordering them is a simple matter. Many include free shipping with a substantial order which will cut down on your overall costs.

White Bathroom Cabinet Savings Guide!

By KBC Kitchen & Bathroom

Welcome to our website! You will find many white bathroom cabinet sources throughout this page.

It’s time to remodel that old, worn out bathroom with a look that’s refreshing and new. There are so many choices available so it can be difficult to make a decision. Don’t get stuck with a color scheme that might go out of style in the near future. Install a white cabinet to give that bathroom an exciting new look with a base color that matches everything.

There’s a reason why artists use a white canvass for their creations. Splashes of color stand out against white and give the creator versatility when producing their masterpiece. Anyone can use their bathroom as a blank canvass as well. Start with white and add color through bath towels, shower curtains, bath mats and other bathroom accessories. White bathroom furniture can become that canvass.

For anyone who is worried that a white bathroom cabinet will show the dirt too easily, it is important to know that the right kind of paint can make cleaning even easier than before. If the cabinets are merely being repainted, make sure to use several coats of a paint that’s marketed for easy cleaning. Some provide a barrier against dirt and grime as they dry, so choosing this type of paint will make cleaning chores easier.

If the cabinets are going to be completely replaced, look for new cabinets that have been properly treated with stain-resistant treatments and paint. This is especially important if children will be using the bathroom. Kids often like to draw on white surfaces so making sure those cabinets are coated with a paint that’s easy to clean is important.

Once the cabinets are chosen and installed, there are plenty of great bathroom accessories that will complement the new look. Get them in white to match the new look of the cabinets or get them in contrasting colors for a dramatic and exciting feel. The creative possibilities are endless!

12 Ideas For Small Bathroom Design

By KBC Kitchen & Bathroom

Every person that has a small bathroom is interested in ways of making their bathroom appear larger.  Remodeling the bathroom is not always an option and in many cases, remodeling the bathroom would be very expensive.  There are a number of ways that a person can use to make their small bathroom seem larger without having to undertake any heavy construction.

12 Ideas For Small Bathroom Design

1. Soft Color for Walls
One of the easiest ways that a person can alter their small bathroom design to make it appear larger is to choose light soft colors for the décor of the bathroom.

2. Accent with Color
Bright, bold colors can be used in small bathrooms, assuming you reserve them for accents only. Going overboard with bold or dark colorstend to make the bathroom appear tighter and more intimate.

3. Visual Accents
If your bathroom has wallpaper, avoid using large prints or busy pattern. Instead, choose very subtle wallpaper patterns. Better yet, keep one wall free from any pattern at all. Consider making the largest wall in the small bathroom into a mural of an open space.

4. Light Tones of Bathroom Flooring
Just like light colors on the walls, light colors on the flooring of the small bathroom will help make the bathroom appear roomier and more open.  The most popular colors for a light bathroom floor are tans, light grays, and light blues.  By incorporating these colors into the flooring of your small bathroom design, you will have the basis for a light colored decorating scheme that will make your bathroom appear more open.

5. Pedestal Sink
Another small bathroom design that can be used to make a bathroom appear larger is to replace a large vanity or countertop with a slimmer, pedestal sink.  A pedestal sink can be found in many different styles, colors, and materials, allowing them to be matched to any décor.  By placing a pedestal sink in the small bathroom, you can open up the bathroom space by another ten percent.

6. Classic Fixtures
When selecting fixtures for your bathroom, keep in mind they are going into a small space. Choose simple designs made from smooth surfaces, such as ceramic and marble, and opt for light, neutral tones.

7. Additional Lighting Fixtures
Additional lighting in a small bathroom can make a world of difference in the way the space in the bathroom is perceived.  Consider adding additional light fixtures or using higher wattage bulbs, as appropriate. By making the bathroom brighter and more inviting, it seems that the space has opened up and the walls are farther apart.

8. Increase Natural Light
There are a variety of ways that additional lighting can be added to the small bathroom without taking up more space than is already used, including installing a new window, or even putting in a skylight.

9. Limit Items in Bathroom
Many people choose to open up the amount of space available in their small bathroom by greatly reducing the amount of items that they place into the bathroom.  Items such as storage shelves, hampers, and decorative items all take up valuable space in a small bathroom and the bathroom will appear much larger if these items are removed and the things that they hold are stored somewhere else.

10. Consider Storage Outside the Bathroom
Some people choose to place a small storage cabinet in their hallway near the bathroom as a place to put all of the things that they would normally keep in their bathrooms. It’s also a good idea to consider putting laundry hampers in the bedrooms instead of in the bathroom. Extra supplies and paper products can even be stored in the pantry.

11. Adding Mirrors
Adding additional mirrors to the bathroom will also help the bathroom appear bigger than it really is.  Placing additional mirrors in the bathroom will help to capture all of the available light and reflect it back into the room to make it brighter.  Adding extra mirrors to the room will also add depth to the room, as the mirrors reflect each other and make the walls appear farther away.

12. De-Clutter
Other ways you can use to make a small bathroom design appear larger include removing clutter and extra items. Instead of storing all of your beauty items on the counter, place them in a cabinet or in the medicine chest when not in use. The more items are visible in a small bathroom, the more cramped the space will look and feel.

Using these subtle design changes to modify the look of your small bathroom is easy, inexpensive, and most of these design changes can be completed in a few hours.  By changing your small bathroom design, you can make your small bathroom appear larger within the space of a day.
